Pesky Plateaus

I had another great question tonight and wanted to share it with everyone. This is not the first time I have been asked this question, and this is why I warn everyone to beware of the pesky plateaus.

When you are trying to lose weight, it is very common to reach a plateau. You may be eating right and working out, but the scale doesn't budge. I reached this point as well, and the most important thing to do is... take a deep breath!

Plateaus can last for several weeks, and it is very important not to give up. This is an adjustment that everyone's body makes in the weight loss process. It does not necessarily mean you are doing something wrong. Now, if you have snacked on some snickers recently and missed a few workouts, then yes, you are doing something wrong. But if you have continued the same eating habits and workouts, then YES, you may need to change some things up. :)

1). Reevaluate your calorie intake to make sure you are not over your "normal" limit (see previous posts)
2). No carbs after a certain time of the day, depending on your age. (again, see previous posts)
3). Make sure you are getting enough fiber. Most people need approximately 25 grams per day (and most people actually only consume 10-15 grams)
4). Change your workout routine. Try something completely different. Your body adjusts to workouts, therefore you need to continue changing things up at least once a week.

Good luck!
